Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his wife Corina are separating after 20 years of marriage.
It is news to only those who for the past several months have been unwilling to believe that the marriage not only was in trouble -- but that they had not been together for most of his time in office. Last September, Villaraigosa had even stopped wearing his wedding band, and the two had not been seen publicly since mid-2006.
Earlier this year, Villariagosa denied they were separated but confirmed there were troubles.
Villaraigosa will return to his Mount Washington home, and Corina will live at the official mayoral residence -- Getty House -- in Windsor Square with their two children.
